ABOUT US

THE FARMERS’ SUPPORT COMPANY (FSC)

Growth in the agricultural sector is currently constrained by a number of factors, including a weak credit system which is perceived as unattractive to farmers and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector. As a consequence of the need for inputs on concessionary terms, and to further complement interventions under the BAM, the Ministry of Agriculture has established an Agricultural Revitalization Programme (ARP). More specifically, the Farmer Support Company (FSC) was registered to facilitate credit to farmers through a revolving facility.

The FCS is a start-up company, set up under the Companies’ Act, CAP. 143 on 22nd November 2013. (Registration Number 119 or 2013). The company is wholly owned by the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and is authorised to issue an unlimited number of shares on no par value designated as ordinary or common shares. The governance and controls of the company is exercised on behalf of the shareholders by a five-member Board of Directors (BOD).

The Farmers’ Support Company is the statutory body of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labour.
